Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand feels Nigerian international Alex Iwobi plays like a veteran following his spectacular showing for Arsenal so far this season.
The 20-year-old who broke into the Gunners first team last season was immaculate last weekend in the London Derby as he orchestrated Arsenal’s play from midfield and helped to a comprehensive 3-0 win at the Emirates.
That performance earned him the Man-of-the-Match award and won him one more admirer in Ferdinand who is now a football pundit and he lavished praises on the Austin Jay Jay Okocha nephew.
‘He (Iwobi) played like an experienced veteran player,’ the former England captain said.
‘He got in between the lines between Chelsea’s midfield and defence and you don’t really see that from young players like him.
‘He doesn’t stand still and admire passes, he plays with an intent to hurt the opposition.’
Iwobi is part of the Super Eagles squad invited for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on October 3.
