Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney ended the team’s three games goal drought by scoring the only goal as they defeated CSKA Moscow in the Match-Day-Four of the UEFA Champions League game played at Old Trafford tonight.
Manchester United controlled the possession but failed to break the away team defense for the first 45 minutes, making it seven hours of football without a goal for the Old Trafford side.
Rooney flashed a shot wide from inside the box and Mata raced onto a glorious pass from Daley Blind on the quarter hour mark but his shot was tame and an easy save for Igor Akinfeev in goal for CSKA Moscow.

Ivorian star Seydou Doumbia came on for Bebras Natcho and nearly opened scoring for the Russians but he was thwarted by David de Gea and Chris Smalling which proved a turning point in the game as Jess Lingard at the other end created an assist for Wayne Rooney to poke home his header for his 30th UEFA Champions League goal to hand Manchester United an important win.
Manchester United now lead Group B with seven points while PSV who defeated Wolfsburg sit second with six points, same with the Germans with CSKA Moscow bottom on four points.
