Ethiopia goalkeeper Abel Mamo was the star of the day as his team came from a goal down to knock Tanzania out of the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge at the quarter finals stage on Monday 30 November.
Mamo had a good game overall and as his team rose from a goal down to force the match into penalties, he saved two spot kicks from Jonas Mkude and Shomari Kapombe to see his team sail to the semis.
Speaking after the match, Mamo termed it a tough encounter but happy that his team finished on top and going forward, he holds the belief that the team can go all the way to the final and lift the title.
“It was a tough game for us and also for the Tanzanians and I am happy that in the end we finished tops. As a team I think we played well; we did our best to contain their pressure well and I am happy with my contribution.
“We now plan for the semi finals which I also expect a good performance and a win to top up. I believe we can go all the way to the last hurdle and win the trophy,” he said.
