Zinedine Zidane’s love for Eden Hazard had pushed Real Madrid to offer a swap deal involving the Belgian and James Rodriguez, according to The Sun.
Chelsea won the Premier League title last season with Hazard playing a major role and was voted PFA Player of the season.
He was even compared by former manager Jose Mourinho to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both of whom have won the FIFA Ballon D’Or crown eight times between them.
However, speculation have continue to grow that both players are frustrated with life at their respective clubs.
James is not a first choice started under Zidane while Hazard has been plagued by injuries this season and openly professed his love for Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Sun, reports that the Los Blancos are open to the prospect of taking Belgium international Hazard off Chelsea’s hands but to force their hand are willing to allow long-time target James Rodriguez join the Stamford Bridge side.
Both players are valued £70m and the swap deal may not involve any monetary transactions.
