Manchester City boss Louis Van Gaal is not only courting controversies on the pitch with the poor display of his team, he is also attracting undue attention to himself after he gave a journalist a cheeky slap after a question involving Ashley Cole.
The incidence occurred at a press conference before LVG seemingly jetted out of Manchester to return to the Netherlands over the weekend.
Before now, Van Gaal had already been showing signs of being under severe pressure and this again came to fore when he reacted badly to a fairly innocent question on rumours linking United with a move for Ashley Cole.
Recall that the under-fire Van Gaal – was recently caught calling a reporter a “fat man” in a similar outburst – did not like the line of questioning, singling out the journalist and giving him a patronising slap to the face as he said, “He did not play for a year!”
The bad situation got worse for The Red Devils over the weekend as they failed to build on winning at Anfield; slumping to a home defeat against Southampton.
“I’m very disappointed that I cannot reach the expectations of the fans,” he said after the defeat to Southampton. “They have – or they had – great expectations of me, and I cannot fulfil them, so I am very frustrated because of that.” LVG admitted.
