Taiwo Awoniyi will spend the current season away from Liverpool again as he has been sent out on loan, this time to Dutch club NEC Nijmegen, as he does not figure in the immediate plans of manager Jurgen Klopp.
Awoniyi, 19, spent the last season on loan at FSV Frankfurt, where he made 14 appearances but had an underwhelming time in the German second tier league.
The English club have confirmed the Nigeria youth international will spend the rest of the 2016/17 season in the Eredivisie with the Dutch club.
Awoniyi has represented Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels, and has been called to the Super Eagles a few times, even though he is yet to make his senior debut for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, he came close to making Nigeria’s U23 squad to the Olympic Games this summer in Brazil, but was only good enough to be named as one of the alternate players.
