Barclays Premier League side Liverpool FC new signing, goalkeeper Loris Karius, who joined the Anfield side in May has been ruled out for between eight to ten weeks after breaking his hand in a preseason match.
The 22 – year old German suffered the injury in Liverpool’s friendly defeat against Chelsea in America on Wednesday 27 July and has been forced to return to England for surgery.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp signed the keeper from his former club, Mainz for £4.7m in May.
With the youngster’s injury, the Reds are left with two fit senior goalkeepers; Simon Mignolet and 39-year-old Alex Manninger who signed a short term deal at the club having left German side Augsburg.
Manninger is a former Arsenal keeper.
