Former Liverpool star and legend Robbie Fowler is scheduled to make a tour of Uganda in the month of August, Ugandan media reports.
The former Liverpool striker has an invitation from the Sickle Cell Foundation of Uganda in conjunction with Pemba Sports International (PSI) and is expected to grace the 2016 Uganda Entertainment Awards scheduled for 19 August at Serena International Hotel in Kampala
Fowler, 41, will join Nigerian singer Yemi Alade at the red carpet event that will be hosted by South Africa’s Bonang. He will as well visit orphanages, sickle cell and anemia patients, as well as tour select football academies.
Fowler’s visit comes just three months after another Liverpool legend, John Barnes, was in the country accompanied by Liverpool youth coaches (Andy Nicholas, Craig Malley and Daniel Reece) for purposes of training Ugandan youth coaches on developing young players.
In December last year, another Liverpool great, Luis Garcia was part of Barcelona legends team that visited Uganda and played an exhibition match with Uganda Cranes current and Ex-players led by David Obua.
