Just two seasons after he left Anfield for the Nou Camp, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez is set to face Liverpool in the International Champions Cup competition on August 6 at Wembley.
The pre-season friendly was announced by the Reds and it has got the kop fans very excited, not because the game will include the likes of five-time FIFA Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi or Brazilian Maestro Neymar but because it will be the first time Suarez will come up against the club he left in 2014.
It must be mentioned that Suarez left Anfield on a high as he was twice their topscorer and the best player in the premier league in the season he departed, scoring a whopping 31 goals which included some absolutely ridiculous efforts and his name is still sang at Anfield in good voice.
Reds ambassador Gary McAllister said about the friendly game: “What an incredible game to round off such a high-profile tournament and all set under the iconic Wembley arch.
“I’m sure this game will be a great spectacle for Reds fans and football fans in general. I can’t wait.”
Barcelona won the Spanish La Liga title and Copa Del Rey while Liverpool failed to win the Europa Cup as they lost to Sevilla in the final.
