Despite Germany false-9 Mario Gotze revealing to leave Bayern Munich after all, Liverpool won’t go back in for him.
Gotze nearly signed for the Reds before Euro 2016, but was believed to have changed his mind because the club lost the Europa League final. That defeat to Sevilla meant LFC failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League.
Klopp has stated that he wants players to push the train, not to jump on the train and it’s been reported by the Liverpool Echo that the German coach will not go back in for Gotze.
So, that leaves Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund in line for a £20million deal.
It would also be too late for Liverpool, since they opted for £30million capture Sadio Mane from Southampton when Gotze delayed on his Klopp offer.
With Roberto Firmino, Coutinho and Adam Lallana able to play no.10, Liverpool already got enough options behind a striker. Mane can also play there as well as on the wing or upfront alone. So, having Gotze won’t be necessary anymore.
In a surprise move, former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger is training with Liverpool and could sign as their third choice. This will be behind Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
It is also believed that Manninger could be lined up as a current or future keeper coach.
Manninger made a name for himself at Arsenal as the keeper behind David Seaman, and during his injury spell, Manninger got six cleansheets in a row.
Last season the former Austria international was at Augsburg.
