The draw for the sixth edition of the KPL Top 8 Cup has been completed in the event held at the Southern Sun Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday 12 April. Among the mouth watering clashes fans will be expecting in the tournament will be the AFC Leopards versus Ulinzi Stars opener.
The draw also pitted holders Gor Mahia against first timers Ushuru FC and another good game will see Bandari taking on former champions Tusker while Sofapaka will be up against Muhoroni Youth in their opening matches.
The tournament, which enlists clubs that finished in the top eight slots in the previous season, starts off at the quarter final stage after which a draw for the semi finals is conducted to do fresh pairings.
The semi final matches are played on home and away basis with the away goal rule applicable then the final is a one off with the winner walking away with Kshs 1m.
Of the 2016 participants, only Ushuru will be making their first appearance.
Gor Mahia and Tusker will be seeking their third Top 8 titles while Ulinzi Stars will be going for a second after winning the inaugural edition in 2011 after beating Western Stima 2 – 1 in the final.
