Ghana’s legendary forward Asamoah Gyan has received significant praise by the world’s most celebrated footballer, Lionel Messi.
Gyan has minimal experience in top leagues such as the English Premier League where he failed to hold onto a regular spot at Sunderland.
Nevertheless, Messi has been impressed with Gyan’s contribution at international level for Ghana, where he’s starred at World Cup’s and Africa Cup of Nations level.
This would hearten the Ghana star’s feeling that his efforts are appreciated worldwide, despite turning out for a club as far as Shanghai SIPG today.
“I like his hard work and dedication to his national team and his clubs. I watch him play several times and I really like the goal he scored against Germany in Brazil,” Messi told 90 minutes Extra.
“I might say that, he is one of the greatest goal scorers I have ever seen.”
It’s quite a serious comment when you consider Gyan has netted 48 goals in less than 100 appearances already, and is Africa’s all-time leading scorer in World Cup’s with six goals.
