Chelsea abysmal season continued Monday when they slumped to their ninth defeat of the season to Leicester City at the King Power stadium as Claudio Ranieri got one over his former side to send Leicester City top of the table.
That was the total number of matches the shambolic champions suffered combined in 76 matches last season.
Before the encounter Chelsea had won their last six Barclays Premier League meetings with Leicester City but they were stunned when Jarmie Vardy struck his goal tally to 15 in the 34th minute in an outstanding season after equaling Ruud Van Nisterooly goal haul in the EPL.
Riyad Mahrez doubled Leicester’s lead two minutes after the restart of the season. The Algerian winger has now been involved in a league-high 18 goals this season in the top-flight (11 goals, seven assists).
Before Loic Remy came off the substitute’s bench to grab a consolatory goal in the 77th minute of the encounter for Jose Mourinho’s side.
The game also saw off-form forward Diego Costa impling the Blues backline were caught napping in the first period.
Apparently every side with at least 35 points after 16 matches has NEVER failed to finish inside the top four.
Chelsea are now 16th on the log with 15 points from 16 games and one point adrift the relegation spot.
