Tottenham Hotspurs finally had their wish go through as they beat Everton to the signature of French midfielder Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United for a fee of 30 million pounds.
The midfielder’s move was developing into a protracted saga on the final day of the transfers as the Magpies held on to his high valuation, one that Tottenham seemed not willing to meet as the deadline drew close.
Everton emerged as the most likely destination and was willing to part with Newcastle United’s asking price but while it seemed the player would be heading to the Merseyside, the two parties failed to agree on personal terms for the 27 – year old.
In the end Spurs got their man for the price and agreed terms, tying him down to a five year deal which the midfielder seemed happy with, going by his comments after signing.
“I will give everything for you and the team. I hope we win a lot of games and titles,” he said.
Meanwhile, it was a busy night at Spurs on deadline day as the Londoners also brought in Georges – Kevin Nkoudou from Marseille.
The 21 – year old Frenchman signed a five year deal with Spurs after sealing a nine million pound deal.
