Ten time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker are back at the summit of the league standings after Gor Mahia was docked three points following an incident of crowd trouble, which saw the champions drop to fourth on the table.
In the matches played on Thursday 26 May, Ulinzi Stars missed the chance to go top after playing to a 1 – 1 draw with Kakamega Homeboyz at the Afraha Stadium. John Mark Makwatta scored for Ulinzi on the tenth minute but David Okoth netted the leveler on the hour mark to deny the hosts.
In Mombasa, hosts Bandari FC and Thika United registered the same result at the Mbaraki Stadium. Ugandan Dan Sserunkuma scored the opener for Bandari but Eugene Mukangula netted the leveler five minutes from time to ensure a share of the spoils.
In Kusumu, Ushuru FC posted the shock result of the day, beating Western Stima 3 – 1 at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu while close by, Muhoroni Youth returned to winning ways with a 1 – 0 victory over Chemelil Sugar in the Awsi derby.
In Machakos, the 2008 league champions Mathare United and Posta Rangers played to a barren draw in the only match of the day that had no goals registered as Sony Sugar FC’s rise continued with a 2 – 0 win over City Stars at the Awendo Green Stadium.
