Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia suffered a hiccup in their chase for a fourth straight title when they gave away the lead to draw with minnows Kakamega Homeboyz in the league match played at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
The champions took an early lead, returnee Meddie Kagere striking on the 12th minute to hand them the lead but when they looked on course for their ninth straight win in all competitions, Homeboyz forced a draw with Ali Bai scoring a late goal.
Gor Mahia’s slump was well taken advantage of by Tusker, who came from a goal down to beat Ulinzi Stars 2 – 1 at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Samuel Onyango gave the hosts the lead but goals from Ugandan Robert Omunuk and Ghanaian Stephen Owusu ensured the Brewers pick three points.
In the other matches played on the day, Muhoroni Youth and Sony Sugar played to a 2 – 2 draw at the Muhoroni Stadium while Posta Rangers and City Stars played to a barren draw in the clash staged at the Afraha Stadium.
At the end of the weekend, Tusker opened up a five – point lead at the summit with Mathare United having lost to Western Stima a day earlier at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
