The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) round 20 matches came with very few surprises, perhaps the only one being Sofapaka FC’s 5 – 0 win over fellow strugglers Nairobi City Stars on Sunday 7 August to hit double figures on the standings.
At the top of the table, Tusker FC got it right after weeks of struggling, by beating fellow title contenders Mathare United 2 – 0 at the Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani.
At the Mumias Sports Complex, AFC Leopards clawed their way back from two goals down, to beat Ushuru FC 3 – 2.
At the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Sony Sugar, playing away to Western Stima, bagged a 3 – 0 win, subjecting Western Stima to their first defeat of the second leg.
At the Chemelil Sports Complex, Chemelil Sugar earned a measure of revenge over Muhoroni Youth, beating their arch rivals 1 – 0 in the derby.
Champions Gor Mahia’s chase for a fourth straight title suffered a dent after they were held to a barren draw while Thika United’s fine run was also halted by Kakamega Homeboyz who forced a 1 – 1 draw at Kasarani.
