Ulinzi Stars head coach Robert Matano will not be able to call on key striker Oscar Wamalwa for the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash against AFC Leopards later on Saturday 23 April at the Mumias Sports Complex after the striker suffered an ankle injury in training ahead of the game.
The club’s official website reports that he will need further tests to ascertain the expent of his injury but confirms he is a sure absentee for the match scheduled to kick off at 3pm EAT.
“Striker Oscar Wamalwa picked up an ankle injury in training. He will not be available for the match (against AFC Leopards) as he will need to undergo further tests to ascertain the extent of the injury,” read a statement on the club’s official portal.
The team will also have to do with defender Oliver Rutto who is recovering from an earlier ankle injury as put across by team doctor John Imboiywa.
“We managed to get the plaster off two weeks ago and he has now started jogging lightly. We would want him to take as much time as possible before getting back fully to ensure the injury is 100% healed. He has shown quite some good recovery,” Imboiywa, noted.
