All the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches scheduled for Saturday 19 – Sunday 20 March have been pushed by a week in a bid to allow the Kenya national team Harambee Stars ample time to prepare for their international obligations.
The national team will be taking on Guinea Bissau in the first leg of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday 23 March before playing the return leg four days later.
In a Tweet from his official Twitter handle, the Kenyan Premier League CEO Jack Oguda stated that the league will take a break to allow a big pool of players available for the national team head coach as a way of supporting the team.
“We as the KPL will always support the national team and so the SPL will take a break after this weekend to enable the team prepare for Guinea Bissau match which is slated for the 23 and 27 March,” Oguda said.
League matches will resume on Wednesday 30 March.
