Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants AFC Leopards failed to go past Mathare United on the first of two days of the 18th round of matches in a game that Leopards have really dominated over the years.
The league giants went into the match on the back of a 4 – 0 win over Thika United the last time out but was trailing at the break in the game following David Mwangi’s headed goal.
Kepha Aswani however got Leopards level in the second half, albeit in controversial fashion as Mathare United claimed he came from an offside position before scoring the goal.
Still it stood and the teams played to a 1 – 1 draw at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In the first match at the same venue, Nairobi City Stars played to a 1 – 1 draw with Ulinzi Stars, making it the first point for Ulinzi Stars in the second leg after losing their previous two matches.
For City Stars, the draw was their third on the trot in the second leg.
It all started with an early own goal from Luis Masika on the third minute of the match but Ezekiel Odera scored a late leveler for City Stars to make it three points in thjree matches in the second leg.
The third and final match of the day, staged at the Thika Sub County Stadium, hosts Thika United managed to stop the rot after two straight losses, to draw 0 – 0 with the visiting Western Stima.
