Western Stima head coach Henry Omino carried more of anger than joy as he headed back west after his team’s Sunday 8 May 2 – 2 draw with Mathare United at the Nyayo National Stadium.
His complaint was based on the referee failing to hand his side a penalty after Mathare United defender George Owino appeared to clip his midfielder Kenneth Mugune from behind in the box, at the time his team leading 2 – 1.
Omino says that was not the only wrong call made by the referee, adding his voice to the complaints that dominated Kenyan football the past week.
“The wrong call was not the only one; the referee had many other poor calls in the game and if that was the best we could get from the official then it leaves a lot to be desired. That was a clear penalty because Muguna was tackled from behind.
“A right decision at the point when we were leading 2 – 1 would have changed the course of the game but at least we did not lose,” he said.
He will be hoping for a better outcome for his side in the next match when he leads his charges against Gor Mahia on Sunday 15 May.
