Gor Mahia head coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira aka Ze Maria has set his focus on Mathare United after a fine run that has seen the team rise to third place on the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log after a slow start to the season.
The coach saw his resilient side fight hard to beat a tough Western Stima side at the Kisumu Stadium on Sunday 15 May and he lauded the players on a great display and their show of patience as Francis Kahata came off the bench to score a late winner.
The coach had praise for Western Stima for a good game, admitting they gave his team a hard time.
“Western Stima played well. They are tough team and kept us on toes for the entire match, which shows their quality. We had to score a late goal to win and I wish them the best.
“As for my team, I think we played well and we were alert for the entire game and also patient. I am happy we got the result we wanted but we cannot go on celebrating. This one is done and we immediately switch to think of the next match. We play Mathare United and it is another tough one” he said.
