The seventh week of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) served one major surprise in AFC Leopards 0 – 1 loss to Nairobi City Stars in the Sunday 3 April clash at the Nyayo National Stadium. Leaopards went to the game on an unbeaten slate but they could not keep it as Oscar Mbugua’s goal did them in.
While Leopards were left licking wounds, their arch rivals Gor Mahia managed the first win of the season on the 3 – 0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz out in Mumias. Enoch Agwanda got the opener for K’Ogalo before new signing Jacques Tuyisenge doubled matters and Jacob Keli wrapped it all up.
At the Machakos County Stadium, Sofapaka’s struggles continued with the 2009 champions succumbing to their sixth straight loss at the hands of Chemelil Sugar after going down 1 – 2.
Tusker FC played to a 1 – 1 draw with visiting Bandari FC t the Machakos Stadium while Western Stima, touring Awendo, ensured Sony Sugar do not get their first win of the season as the teams played to a barren draw.
Mathare United returned to winning ways after being shocked by City Stars the last time out. The 2008 champions saw off Ushuru FC 1 – 0 at the Nyayo National Stadium to rise to second place on the log while Thika United still stayed winless after playing to a barren draw with Posta Rangers in Thika.
