Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia got back to winning ways in resounding fashion, beating Chemelil Sugar 3 – 1 in the highlight of the matches staged on Saturday 10 September across the country.
Gor Mahia had to dig deep to get the win despite going ahead courtesy of Francis Kahata’s goal on the 16th minute.
Former Gor Mahia man Jared Obwoge scored the equalizer to send the tie to the break level but Amos Nondi and George Odhiambo got the goals that turned the tie in Gor Mahia’s favor.
In the other tie played on the day, AFC Leopards’ poor season continued as the KPL giants were subdued at the coast by Bandari.
Andrew Tololwa got the opener for Leopards and they seemed to be cruising to a first win under coach Ezekiel Akwana but Ugandan Dan Sserunkuma rose from the bench to net a double that saw Bandari bag maximum points with a 2 – 1 win.
At the Muhoroni Stadium, hosts Muhoroni Youth played to a barren draw with the visiting Kakamega Homeboyz.
Five matches are on the cards on Sunday 11 September.
