Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia completed a routine double over Thika United in the league match staged at the Thika Stadium on Sunday 3 July, beating their hosts 2 – 1 in the game.
Mercurial Rwandan international Jacques Tuyisenge netted a first half brace to ensure Eugene Mukangula’s 41st minute striker counted for nothing and saw Gor Mahia start the second half of the season on a high.
In an earlier game, staged at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, ten – time champions Tusker FC avenged their first leg loss to Posta Rangers, beating the newly promoted side 1 – 0.
Former AFC Leopards winger Noah Wafula scored the only goal of the game on the 17th minute.
The win for Tusker saw the Brewers go back to the summit of the premier league after dropping down following Mathare United’s 1 – 0 win over Ulinzi Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday 2 July.
With both Ulinzi Stars and Posta Rangers losing their matches on the weekend, Gor Mahia managed to leap to third place, behind leaders Tusker and second placed Mathare United.
