The search for the first win for Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia will continue into the sixth week of the season after they were held to a 2 – 2 draw by Nairobi City Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday 12 March.
City Stars opened the scoring on the 40th minute through former Gor Mahia striker Jimmy Bageya but just a minute later George Odhiambo leveled matters before adding a quick second to see Gor Mahia take the lead heading to the break.
City Stars coach Bobby Ogolla introduced Cameroonian forward Joel Tata who got the equalizer, turning home Bageya’s low cross that evaded the entire Gor Mahia defence to claim a share of the spoils.
Elsewhere, Sony Sugar FC’s woes continued with a 0 – 1 home loss to Muhoroni Youth at the Awendo Stadium as Kakamega Homeboyz served Posta Rangers their first defeat of the season, beating the Nairobi side 2 – 1 at the Mumias Sports Complex.
In Nakuru, Ulinzi Stars conceded their first goal of the campaign after a 1 – 1 draw with Western Stima.
The league matches continue on Sunday with a total of four matches lined up across the country.
