Ivory Coast’s legendary defender Kolo Toure has won over many hearts in Liverpool.
With Mamadou Sakho suspended during a doping investigation, Toure has grabbed the central defensive spot ahead of Martin Skrtel. In fact records show that he’s performed better than Sakho, and has made a good partnership with Dejan Lovren.
Kolo Toure has now spoken about the inspirational support received by Reds fans when they progressed passed Villarreal on Thursday, to reach the Europa League final.
“That was so amazing, it’s hard to put into words. Driving from the hotel to the stadium and seeing the fans fill the streets, that makes you feel something so special,” Toure told Goal.com
“The passion we saw was motivating and for me, I was a little bit emotional at this time because I could see how much the game meant to all of them.”
The 35-year-old also spoke about the specific reverence that the fans have shown toward him.
“You can feel all their encouragement!” he added to Goal.
“When you do a good tackle, or block, the Kop they really appreciate that and they let you know it.
“For me, it means a lot. I’m here to give 100 per cent for this club and I’m happy the supporters can see that.”
