Klopp’s famous celebration wasn’t seen at Burnley
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has answered his critics who believed that he’s left the team weak at left back and defensive midfield.
Liverpool used two unusual players out of position, leading to a 2-0 defeat away to Burnley. This was James Milner at left back and Jordan Henderson in defensive midfield.
Alberto Moreno was dropped on the left, but fans wanted a proper left back signed. With Liverpool lacking a strong midfielder, there was also opinion that they need a defensive minded player there. Joe Allen has already been sold, and Lucas Leiva was actually close to being sold.
“If one game would change my mind, then I would be a real idiot,” Klopp said. “If that was the case, how could I be here?
“Will I (spend money)? The answer is I don’t know. We will see.”
That leaves room to interpret that Klopp could bring in a player or two, if he finds the right option. Though, at this late stage it’s unlikely.
“We had Emre Can on the bench, Lucas Leiva was not here. Emre has had a back problem but he warmed up OK and he could be on the bench. Lucas was not here, and you would ask for a hard midfielder?!”
Klopp’s explanation hints that he’s happy with these options, which is again strange since Lucas was nearly sold.
