The Tanzania national team head coach at the CECAFA Senior Challenge Abdalla Kibaden has blamed his country’s exit from the tournament on referee Abdoul Rumukiba, who ran the game pitting his team against hosts Ethiopia on Monday 30th November.
Tanzania took the lead through skipper John Bocco in the first half but Ethiopia skipper Gatoch Panom levelled matters through a penalty that was hotly contested.
Ethiopia went on to win 4 – 3 on post match penalties and in his post match comments, the coach stated that the referee had a set mind going to the game.
He however has a positive to pick from the tournament; he says his charges will benefit greatly from the experience gained,.
“I think the referee had a fixed mindset going to the game and it is a pity because we faced them also in the group stages and we underwent the same problem. The penalty awarded to them was not a genuine one.
“They also had the fans backing them so it was hard for us to concentrate fully but in the end I say it was a good tournament for us and for the young team I brought we have gained massively. The experience from this tournament will help us in the coming assignments,” he said.
