Simba SC head coach Dylan Kerr has leapt to the defence of Kenyan international Paul Mungai Kiongera after the midfielder had a poor game on his competitive debut for the club in the match against Toto Africans.
Kiongera came off the bench in the game but failed to inspire the fourth place Simba to bag maximum points as the team managed just a 1 – 1 draw and fans turned the heat on the former KCB man.
In the wake of the criticism, the coach has called for calm and urged the fans to be a little more patient with the midfielder, saying he is still settling in at the club.
“This was his first match for the club and he is yet to gel with the rest of the squad. Fans should be patient with him. He needs more time to gel with other members of the squad and also get used to the league,” he said.
Kiongera is a much adored player back at home, especially after joining KCB on loan in the second half of the season in 2015 and went on to score 11 goals.
