Kenyan international Michael Olunga fine streak under newly appointed coach Mark Dempsey at IF Djurgardens continued as they beat Falkenberg 2-1 in the Swedish top flight on Sunday 11 September.
Olunga was the star man in the match, setting up Mathias Ranégie for the opening goal and then scored his fourth goal for the team on the 75th minute to help them to a win that saw them move to position 11.
In Italy, McDonald Mariga’s second tier side US Latina registered the second straight loss after conceding two second half goals to pick a 2-1 defeat against Frosinone.
Federico Dionisi scored the opener in the 52nd minute and added the second 12 minutes later before Mariga’s side got a consolation from Maxwell Acosty at the 87th minute.
Mariga was substituted on the 59th minute to pave way for 23 year old Ghanaian international Richmond Boakye.
In Finland, Amos Ekhalie and Anthony Dafaa’s side Mariehamn fell to third placed KuPS in a Finland top league match played at Savon Sanomat Areena.
Nigerian forward Gbolahan Salami scored a brace to hand KuPS a 2-1 win in the match that Ekhalie clocked 69 minutes while Dafaa who was returning from injury did not feature in the clash though he was named on the bench.
Closer home, Kenyan trio of Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu and David Owino featured for their Zambian team Zesco United against Mufurila Blackpool in a Zambian league clash staged at the John Yumba Kachofa Stadium on Sunday 11 September.
Jesse scored one of the goals as Zesco ran out 2 – 1 winners.
In England, the Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama featured for 55 minutes in his team Tottenham Hotspurs’ 4 – 0 win over Stoke City while in Bulgaria, Aboud Omar featured for the entire game as his Slavia Sofia team registered a 5 – 2 win over Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
In Belgium, Lierse’s Ayub Timbe faced off with his mate Johanna Omolo of Royal Anthwerp in a match Timbe’s side emerged 2 – 1 winners while in Norway, Arnold Origi was suspended after a training field bust up with a team mate as Lillestroem went down 2 – 4 to Odd.
