Lierse SK will stay in the Belgian second tier after two goals from Kenyan international Ayub Masika ensured they bag a 3 -2 win over Excelsior Virton in the final match of the season on Saturday 30 April.
Hosts Vitron took to the break a 2 – -0 lead courtesy of goals from Mehdi Lazaar and Alexis Lafon in the 32nd and 39th minutes but on the 56th minute, Etien Velikonja struck to reduce the deficit.

He completed his brace on the 78th minute after Virton keeper punched Velikonja’s shot in his path.
The two goals added on to the 23-year-old three previous goals, to bring his tally up to five goals in the season in 21 league appearances.
Lierse were the better side in the second half controlling the vast majority of the game – 70% to 30%. The hosts were reduced to ten men on the 86th minute when Marin Jakols was shown a direct red card.
As Lierse finished seventh on 51 points from 32 rounds, Virton joined eight other teams that were relegated to the third division.
