Despite failing to qualify for the African Nations Championships (CHAN) Kenya will still have representation at the tournament to be hosted in Rwanda from January 16 2016.
Two Kenyan match officials, center referee Davies Omweno and assistant referee Aden Marwa will be doing duty at the tournament after they were named among the officials for the tournament.
They will be leaving for Rwanda on Saturday 9 January for the traditional Cooper Test ahead of the tournament and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officer in charge of referees termed it a good sign for the country’s refereeing sector.
“This is a good sign for Kenya as a country and are really thankful to CAF for the chance. CAF has really invested in our referees and this is great sign for us as we head to 2016 and beyond,” he said.
Whereas Omweno will be looking to build his profile from the tournament, Marwa has already been at the top, officiating at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
