The Kenya national women’s team Harambee Starlets have been drawn against DR Congo for the qualifiers of the 12th edition of the African Women Nations Cup to be played in Cameroon between 19 November and 3 December 2016.
Seven nations will join hosts Cameroon in the upcoming tournament after two sets of qualifiers.
Kenya will play as host in the first leg slated for between 4th and 6th March 2016 before travelling for the reverse game two weeks later, 18-20th March.
The aggregate winner of that tie will meet the winner between Togo and Algeria in the second round on 8-10 April and 22-24 April 2016 after which the aggregate winner will qualify for the finals.
Other than Kenya and DR Congo, 16 other teams will participate in the first round. Nine time winners Nigeria, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa and Ivory Coast were all given byes and will join the fray in the second round.
Nigeria beat Cameroon 2 – 0 in the final of the last edition, held in 2014 in Namibia.
