The Kenya national women’s team, Harambee Starlets are set to know their opponents at their maiden appearance at the African Women Nations Cup (AWCON) tournament in Cameroon in November.
The draw for the tournament will be conducted this Sunday, 18 September and ahead of the event to be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the procedure to be put in use in the draw.
After the listing of pots ahead of the draw, it has emerged that Kenya will either take on record winners Nigeria, or hosts Cameroon.
Cameroon, the hosts will be the lead team in Group A (A1) while Nigeria the most successful team in the tournament, will lead Group B (B1), having won the title nine times.
Ghana and South Africa will be the other seeded teams after being deemed the best performers in the last three AWCON editions and will be in Pot 1.
At the third level will be Kenya, Mali, Zimbabwe and Egypt, who will fall in Pot 2.
