The Kenya U17 national team at the COSAFA U17 tournament in Mauritius will be kicking off its campaign for the title on Friday 22 July against Zambia as from 0800hrs GMT and ahead of the clash, the team skipper Prince Boit remains upbeat.
Kenya will be taking part as a guest team, having been invited to replace Mozambique, who pulled out earlier to engage in other assignments and Boit says they excited as they head to their first ever international assignment.
He termed it a good opportunity for them to get exposed as they prepare for the game against Cameroon in the 2017 African U17 Championships qualifiers.
“We are excited because this is the first ever assignment we are undertaking as team. We view this as a good opportunity for us to get exposed, learn from some of the continent’s best as we prepare for Cameroon. It will not be an easy outing but we have to do our best,” Boit said.
The team will also take on Madagascar and Malawi in Group B of the tournament.
