The Kenya national team head coach Stanley Okumbi has released his team that will be taking on Zambia in the Group E clash of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Sunday 4 September at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The coach has opted to start with Zesco United forward Jesse Were as the lone striker, surprisingly leaving out Michael Olunga while Eric Johanna will be deployed as a support striker, linking play in the midfield.
Boniface Oluoch starts in goal as expected while Maritzburg United defender Brian Mandela and Zesco United’s David Owino partner in central defence. Another Zeco United player, Anthony Akumu will line up with skipper Victor Wanyama in central midfield as Ayub Timbe and Eric Ouma ply the offensive flanks.
Aboud Omar and Musa Mohamed will man the defensive flanks on the left and right respectively.
