The Kenya national team Harambee Stars will be leaving for Guinea Bissau for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier early on Monday 21 March and the final squad has been released by head coach Stanley Okumbi.
The coach has named a few surprises in the team, including Patillah Omotto and Ochieng Ovella, both who ply their trade in the second tier and leaving out a number of established players.
Among the top players left out is Gor Mahia trio of Collins Okoth, Francis Kahata and Harun Shakava while AFC Leopards’ Lucas Indeche has also been overlooked in favor of Gor Mahia’s Boniface Oluoch, who has not featured in the league this season.
Foreign based players, led by Victor Wanyama will be linking up with the team on Tuesday 22 March in Bissau, a day to the match.
