The FIFA World rankings for the month of February have been released with Kenya registering a marginal improvement that sees the country’s national team now ranked at number 99, up from the number 101 registered last month.
The improvement in the rankings released on Thursday 4 February come despite the fact that Kenya was inactive between the last and current rankings.
In Africa the Harambee Stars who were recently dethroned as the CECAFA champions by Uganda, are placed at number 24 and among the CECAFA countries, the team is ranked third behind the 2016 CHAN hosts, Rwanda who improved by six places to 85 in the world and Uganda who have now dropped by eight places from number 62 in January to currently sit number 70.
In the continent, Ivory Coast, remain the best ranked and are at number 28 in the world. Cape Verde is second after gaining six positions while Algeria and Ghana slot in at numbers three and four in the continent and 36 and 41 in the world.
Senegal is the fifth best team in Africa and number 45 in the world.
