Kenyan has a spanking new Technical Director after the Football Kenya Federation unveiled German Andreas Spiers as the new man in the job at a function held at the Villa Rosa Kempiski Hotel in Nairobi on Thursday 30 June.
The German, with Romanian roots will replace Patrick Naggi in the role as the federation steps up its campaign to improve on the technical aspects of the game.
FKF president Nick Mwendwa, speaking during the unveiling of the German said the appointment is in line with FIFA requirements and termed it a step towards the 2022 World Cup dream, stating his confidence that Spiers will improve the game.
“Andreas Spiers will be our new Technical Director as and as we promised we want to help implement a tactically good plan for our game that will be like our style of football and we felt Spiers is the right man to lead us there.
“This appointment was placed as a requirement by FIFA, to hire a competent coach to aid develop the tactical aspects of our game and it also fits in our 2022 World Cup dream,” he said.
Francis Kimanzi and Jacob Ghost Mulee were the previous occupants of the job before Naggi took it up under Sam Nyamweya’s leadership then.
