Kenya has registered a drop in the first rankings of the year by three places and the country is now ranked at 101st place down from 98th place it registered in the rankings released in December 2015.
Kenya’s drop is nothing unexpected after the team had a very poor month in December. The team was eliminated from contention for a place in the 2018 World Cup by Cape Verde in November before going on to register dismal results in the CECAFA Senior Challenge.
In the CECAFA region, the CECAFA champions Uganda maintained top position moving a position up to position 62, their best ever position in history. Uganda is the only team from the region that will be taking part in the final part of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Other significant improvements were registered by Zambia (67th, up six places), Rwanda (91st, up 10 places), and Tanzania (126th, up six places).
