Absa Premiership Player of the month for January, Willard Katsande, says he expects AmaKhosi to bounce back as an invigorated unit when they resume their league campaign next week.
The Soweto side have struggled for form of late, having lost two and drawn one of their last three Absa Premiership matches, the defending champions in fourth spot on the standings, 13 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Their next match is on Tuesday 12 April, away to Mpumalanga Black Aces, who are one position and two points behind Chiefs on the table.
The three week break for international and Nedbank Cup action will have allowed the team to regroup under coach Steve Komphela, and Katsande feels it may just have come at the right time.
“The guys have been responding very well. We need to wait for Tuesday and see how it goes,” said the tough-tackling Zimbabwean international.
“All we need to do now is to take it one game at a time and make sure that we start enjoying our football. The international break helped us to regroup and do some team building. I think we are ready for the game on Tuesday. We need to support the coach and help him win trophies at Kaizer Chiefs,” he added.
The 30-year-old meanwhile preferred to credit his team-mates with his Player of the Month award:
“I would like to thank my teammates. It’s always nice to be recognised as an individual. But credit needs to go to the team.”
