Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu says the Gunners usually let people down when they need to put in good performances and get good results
Arsene Wenger’s men began the season with a 4-3 loss to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, just like it was last season and the season before.
“The problem with Arsenal is that when you need them, they let you down,” Kanu said after scoring a hat-trick for the Gunners’ legends against AC Milan legends in a novelty match last week.
He continued: ”I believe they have learnt from that because it doesn’t matter how good you play, the most important thing is to get the points when needed.”
The former Arsenal number 25 is however confident they can kick on and have a good season.
“I believe they are going to do well because they have brought some good players.
”If they can play the way they did against Watford, if they keep it going.”
The Gunners have often either capitulated during the course of the season after starting well, or have started poorly and hit the right rhythm when the other teams must have already taken up the prime spots on the table.
They are at home to Southampton when the Premier League resumes on September 10.
