Kano Pillars will go to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League if they beat Enyimba today in a rescheduled match-day 7 fixture.
Pillars are home at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano and host their fierce rivals, knowing a win will catapult them to the summit of the league table.
They are currently second with 24 points from 13 games but will usurp Rangers at the top of the table on goals difference if they win today.
They have won their last six home games, and have also won their last six at home against Enyimba. They have started the season well, and got maximum points from their last two games – a 6-0 bashing of Shooting Stars in Kano and a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars in Akure last weekend.
For Enyimba, it hasn’t been a great start to the domestic campaign. They are 18th on the table, albeit with three outstanding games after today’s game with Pillars. Their away form in Kano hasn’t been encouraging either, as they have lost their last six games at the Sani Abacha Stadium. But they won their last away game in the league – a 1-0 win over Akwa United in Uyo.
A win will however catapult them to 15th place, and if they score more than three goals, they will be 14th.
They are defending champions won the title last season, dethroning Pillars, who won it for three consecutive years before.
