Nigeria’s John Ogu has express delight with his double nomination in Israel for Player of the Year and Foreign Player of the Year Awards.
The Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder has enjoyed a fantastic season in the Israeli top flight this season producing some outrageous performances throughout the potential title winning campaign.
The 28-year-old who is expecting his first child is a firm fans favourite but will have to compete with four other Israeli leagues stars Elyniv Barda (Hapoel Beer sheva), Maor Melikson (Hapoel beer sheva), Eran Zahavi (Maccabi tel aviv), and Gael Abertman (Maccabi tel aviv) for the Player of the Year Award.
The Foreign Player of the Year gong is the category Ogu is likely to win and his biggest rival is fellow teammate at Beer Sheva and Nigerian colleague Anthony Nwakaeme, the other nominees are Nikita Rukavytsya (Beitar Jerusalem), Evans Kangwa (Hapoel Ranana), Pedro Galvan (Bnei yehuda).
”It feels great to be nominated for the player of the season and as one of the best foreign player in Israel League,” Ogu wrote on his official twitter handle.
John Ogu is in his second season with Hapoel Beer Sheva who currently sit top of the league with 80 points, five ahead of second placed Maccabi Tel Aviv with just two games left to the end of this campaign.
