Jamie Vardy is set to sign a three-and-a-half-year extension to his contract to remain with Leicester City in what would be a huge blow to Premier League top clubs who were courting him.
The 29-year old is has been in talks with the club over the last few weeks and the extension inched a step closer on transfer deadline day.
He has been a target for both Manchester clubs and Chelsea, but it is understood he has agreed in principle to extend his deal, which will see him earn £60,000 a week from the £40,000 he currently enjoys.
The striker has two-and-a-half-years left on his current deal, which he signed in the summer of 2014 but his recent form and improved performances which see him sit atop the goal-scorers chart convinced the club they needed to act quickly.
His form has also earned him several England call-ups, but he has only managed four caps as he has also suffered injuries this season, but if he remains injury free, will make the England squad to the Euros in France in the summer.
