Fast- rising Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi has confessed that he is quite flattered to be compared to his uncle Austin Okocha.
Iwobi said his confidence has further been boosted having also be compared with Dutch legend Edgar Davids by his Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil.
The 20-year old who is one of the big revelations for the Gunners in recent times is also already puling his weight with the Nigeria national team; scoring one of the goals in last weekend’s World Cup qualifying match away to Zambia.
“When I saw [his comments comparing me to Okocha and Edgar Davids] I was like, ‘Wow is he serious?’ because he never really says that much to me,” Iwobi told arsenal.com
“He just gives me advice and help, but it’s such a confidence boost for such a great player to say that about me.”
Iwobi who already has three assists to his name from five Premier League games this term has vowed that he will not rest on his laurels.
For the attacking midfielder, he is still learning his craft and would continue to work harder not to be a flash in the pan.
“I’m never really happy or satisfied with my performances. I always want to improve and I think that’s probably got me to where I am.
“I’m still learning the game and want to be doing than what I am at the moment, so I’ll keep putting 100 per cent into whatever I do.” The 20- year old submitted.
