Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Bony has pledged to fill the void left by the injured Sergio Aguero and shoot Manchester City to Premier League glory this season.
The Argentine is expected to be sidelined for roughly a month after picking up a hamstring on international duty which has now denied City of the services of a man that has notched up eight goals in eleven matches this term.
However, Bony, who joined the Citizens for £28m from Swansea City in January, knows that he now must step up to the plate after scoring just twice for the club previously.
“It’s never good when your team-mates are injured but that’s the way football goes sometimes,” Bony told the club’s official website.
“Now I need to take things game by game and work hard. I have to take my chance and score goals for the team – that’s why I’m here.
“My first concern is helping my team-mates and playing my part – we’ll see how things go starting this Saturday against Bournemouth.”
Manchester City currently lead the Premier League log with 18points and will host 15th placed Bournemouth on Saturday as domestic matches resume after the international break.
