British based Irfan Kawri has been named the Zambia national team assistant coach.
Kawri will be working under current head coach George Lwandamina who doubles up as the Zambian champions Zesco United head coach.
In a statement released by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and posted on the federation’s website, the new coach will be the only addition to the team’s technical bench, at least for now.
“FAZ hereby announces the appointment of British based coach Irfan Kwari as the assistant coach of the Zambia national team. The country’s federation has further revealed that the team’s Technical Bench will remain unchanged till further notice,” the statement read.
Zambia will be looking to do well at the forthcoming African Nations Championships (CHAN) in Rwanda as from January 16 2016.
The team will also be targeting a place at the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has=ving already drawn one and won one game in the qualifiers.
