Super Eagles goal keeper Carl Ikeme sat out Wolverhampton’s 4-2 drubbing by Derby County on Sunday in a championship week 11 encounter at the iPro Stadium.
The Nigerian international who secured his third clean sheet in the Super Eagles colors during the international break in the Eagles’ 3-0 thrashing of West African neighbors Cameroon has only managed to three starts from three games for so far in the current campaign for Wolves.
While Ikeme whose last played for Wolves in August sat out the entire duration of Sunday’s humiliating defeat, another Nigerian Seyi Ojo came on as a second half substitute for Wallace one minute after the hour mark.
Chris Martin scored twice and then missed a penalty as Derby climbed into the Championship’s top six with an entertaining victory over Wolves.
Martin fired the Rams into an early lead from 20 yards but Benik Afobe levelled from a well-worked corner. Martin headed Derby back in front 25 minutes later before seeing his spot-kick saved by Emiliano Martinez. However, Bradley Johnson made up for the loss by tucking home a third inside first half added time.
Johnny Russell struck for 4-1 before Adam Le Fondre volleyed a consolation.
